Your Richest Life is ten!
When I started this business a decade ago, I wanted to give busy professionals access to financial planning services that would support their goals, and fit into their demanding schedules. I hoped to empower and educate my clients, and show them that their dreams were possible.
There have been plenty of lessons learned along the way, but at its core, the mission of Your Richest Life has remained the same: to help my clients confidently take charge of their financial futures.
So far, I have worked with more than 150 families, been quoted in dozens of articles, appeared on many podcasts and spoke to several groups about improving their finances.
In 2023, I was also honored to receive D Magazine’s Best Financial Planners in Dallas award for the ninth year in a row. I am so thankful to have been nominated for this award, and to be a part of such a supportive network of DFW financial planners.
In my blog posts, I talk a lot about the importance of reflecting on the past in financial planning. It offers valuable lessons and perspective, and gives you a chance to celebrate your wins, too.
So in the spirit of reflecting, here are some of my professional highlights over the past 10 years:
- Working with more than 150 families to develop their financial plans. I never could have gotten to where I am today without the clients who trusted me along the way.
- Receiving the InvestmentNews’ 40 Under 40 award, the Investopedia Top 100 Financial Planner distinction for three years in a row, and the D Magazine Best Financial Planners in Dallas award for 9 years in a row. I am always honored to be nominated for these awards, and to be recognized among so many truly talented professionals in the industry.
- Appearing on WFAA to talk about choosing a credit card for college students, trying a “no buy challenge,” and getting started as an investor.
- Speaking to groups like the UT San Antonio Gastroenterology Fellowship, CUSM’s (Medical School) Financial Literacy Interest Group, Destination DC and Texas A&M about financial planning.
- Publishing more than 220 articles for the Your Richest Life blog.
- Offered financial counseling for women with the Gatehouse group, a local group that helps women dealing with hardships as they work toward permanent change.
When I’m not working with clients or spending time with family, I enjoy singing with Credo, a Dallas-based community choir and volunteering with the Friends of Rowlett Animals animal rescue.
My family and I had lots of fun traveling this year, too. We just got back from a trip to Washington, D.C., where we visited as many sites as we could! Some of the sites we saw were the Washington Monument, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, the White House, the Capitol Building and the International Spy Museum, to name just a few!
Here are more of our adventures from the past year:
My husband and I on Valentine’s Day, 2024
Universal Studios in California – Oct. 2023
XY Planning Network Conference at an event at the Coca Cola Museum in Atlanta – Sept. 2023
Zip-lining with friends in Broken Bow, OK
Our sweet furbabies, Fran and Lily.
And finally, I wanted to include a picture of my stepdad Mike, who we sadly lost in the fall of last year. He was a wonderful man, and we all miss him dearly.
Here’s to the next ten years!
As a fee-only financial planner, I love that my work allows me to help my awesome clients while still having the freedom to give back to the community and spend time with my family.
As always, I want to thank my husband and my daughter for being my biggest cheerleaders and supporting me at every step along the way. They are my biggest supporters, and I couldn’t do it without them.
I am so fortunate to be surrounded by friends and mentors in the industry who are willing to offer a helping hand, a new idea or a different perspective along the way.
And of course, thank you to my clients for trusting me with your questions, your dreams and your fears. I have been honored to work with so many amazing people from the beginning. I can’t wait to see what the next ten years have in store for Your Richest Life.
